Well, it has been a while since my last post. A little thing called life hit me pretty fast once JanTerm (that internship thing-a-ma-jig I was doing) was over.
On support raising news, I am now at $7,150. Yes, I'll say it again $7,150. That is $1,150 over what the initial amount is to raise. Now, I am saying this because this "extra" money needs to be completely credited to the Lord. I have people still contacting me and wanting to give, even after I tell them that I, personally, have hit the goal. Their hearts are still willing to give to the others that have not quite yet hit that goal. They are willing to give to the cause and not just give to me because they know me. This right here is the body of Christ. The fact that these people from all walks in my life from my grandmother's best friends, to my youth group leader from 6th grade, to one of my high school soccer teammate's parents, want to give like this blows me away.
So, to those who are still giving, I really want to say thank you. Honestly, from the bottom of my heart and from my team member's hearts, thank you for your generosity.
On another note, I have been challenged lately with the sermon series at my church here in Birmingham. We are currently studying Acts. If you have never studied this book, do so. It'll rock your world. The past few sermons have been over the boldness of Paul and the other apostles. It has been one of those "Court, what are you doing with your life right now?"/ slap in the face type series. In summary of two or three, 2 hour long sermons, I have been repeatedly reminded that we are called to be bold. We are not called to merely repent, believe and be baptized and just sit back and enjoy. We are called to repent, believe and GO. Go and be bold. Go and make disciples. Go and preach the gospel so that others may too be able to enjoy this freedom we have been given. I say all this not to stand on a pedestal, but as a reminder to myself that this is what we, as Christians, are called to do. I will be the first to admit that I am not a bold person when it comes to my faith. I can sit there and beat around the bush with the best of them, but when it comes the time to share what I truly believe I become flustered and bashful.
As I go throughout the rest of the semester preparing for my upcoming rip to Thailand, this is my prayer for myself and my team member's hearts, and honestly every single other Christ follower. To be bold when we preach the gospel. To not be afraid to share the story about the undeserving gift the Lord has given us, an eternal life with Him in a place we cannot even begin to fathom.
Pray that Ephesians 6:19-20 is evident in our lives.
